A prophecy that Devaki’s child would become his slayer drove the tyrant king Kamsa of Mathura to imprison Devaki and Vasudeva and put their children to death. Thus descended Lord Vishnu as Krishna, one among the ten incarnations, as a boon granted to the devoted couple.
Carried away from Mathura across the waters of the Yamuna beneath the sheltering hood of the serpent king, and until Akrura returned to take Krishna and Balarama back to Mathura, Vrindavan became home to the Lord. The presence of the Divine was all it took for a humble village to become heaven on earth.
In the playfulness of the child was the profound grace of a protector. Demons came in many forms: Putana in false maternal guise, Trinavarta in whirlwind fury, Bakasura as the fearsome crane, Aghasura as the devouring serpent, Arishtasura as the raging bull, Kesi as the furious horse, and Kuvalayapida as the enraged elephant. Yet each fell before the child whose laughter still echoed through the courtyards of Gokula.
The child who had to be bound to a grinding stone by his mother was quietly restoring the triumph of righteousness over evil, from the slaying of Shishupala to the eventual fall of King Kamsa.
At the heart of it all was divine love. Such was the devotion of the people that when the time came for Krishna and Balarama to leave Gokula and return to Mathura, the heartbroken gopikas threw themselves before the wheels of the chariot to stop them. Such was the joy he brought that Gokula became Nanda Gokula, forever remembered as the cradle of Krishna Lila.
The iconography of Lakshmi Narayana in the Anantashayana pose is an essential element in traditional Pattachitra paintings dedicated to the life story of Lord Vishnu. Placed at the top of the composition, often marking the beginning of the narrative, it symbolises the artist’s humble prayer, seeking the Lord’s acceptance of the painting as an offering.

Please also keep it away from perfumes and harsh chemicals to preserve its finish and longevity.

As each creation is handcrafted by an artist, rare circumstances such as weather conditions, health, prior artistic commitments, or other unforeseen events may occasionally result in delays. For bespoke and commissioned creations, a 50% advance is required upon order confirmation. This helps us procure materials and support the artisans who bring each piece to life through their craftsmanship. The remaining balance is payable prior to dispatch.

Each painting is a carefully crafted work of art, created through hours of meticulous craftsmanship and artistic devotion. To honour its authenticity and provenance, a digital Certificate of Authenticity will be issued and shared with the purchaser by email within three working days after delivery.
