A prophecy that Devaki’s child would become his slayer drove the tyrant king Kamsa of Mathura to imprison Devaki and Vasudeva, and put their children to death in a desperate bid for self-preservation. Yet when Lord Vishnu was born as Krishna, the universe itself rose to protect the divine child. The Yamuna made way, and the great serpent Adi Shesha unfurled his shelter, as Vasudeva carried Krishna to the loving lap of Yashoda.
Kamsa’s fear knew no rest. Putana in false maternal guise, Trinavarta in whirlwind fury, Bakasura as the fearsome crane, Aghasura as the devouring serpent, Vatsasura as the calf, Dhenukasura as the wild donkey, Kaliya in his venomous coils, Arishtasura as the raging bull, Kesi as the furious horse, Kuvalayapida the enraged elephant, and Shakatasura through the cart itself, every dark design of Kamsa failed before the Guardian of the Universe. In time, Krishna fulfilled the prophecy, vanquishing the tyrant king and restoring cosmic balance.
Yet this was never merely the story of evil vanquished. When righteousness began to fade, Lord Vishnu had already graced the earth. From his sacred incarnations to the slaying of Shishupala, the triumph of righteousness was always ordained.
But at the heart of this cosmic play lay love, pure and boundless, for his devotees. Be it the Rasleela with Radha and the gopikas, or the playful affection of Yashoda Mata, the Lord’s leela flowed, an endless sea of divine grace.
The iconography of Lakshmi Narayana in the Anantashayana pose is an essential element in traditional Pattachitra paintings dedicated to the life story of Lord Vishnu. Placed at the top of the composition, often marking the beginning of the narrative, it symbolises the artist’s humble prayer, seeking the Lord’s acceptance of the painting as an offering.

As each creation is handcrafted by an artist, rare circumstances such as weather conditions, health, prior artistic commitments, or other unforeseen events may occasionally result in delays. For bespoke and commissioned creations, a 50% advance is required upon order confirmation. This helps us procure materials and support the artisans who bring each piece to life through their craftsmanship. The remaining balance is payable prior to dispatch.

Each painting is a carefully crafted work of art, created through hours of meticulous craftsmanship and artistic devotion. To honour its authenticity and provenance, a digital Certificate of Authenticity will be issued and shared with the purchaser by email within three working days after delivery.
