Krishna was born, and the protector of the universe had to be protected. As Vasudeva carried the newborn from Mathura to Vrindavan, the waters of the Yamuna rose in reverence, while the great serpent Adi Shesha unfurled his divine canopy to shield the child from the storm.
Cradled in the loving care of Yashoda Mata, the child grew in mischief and wonder, stealing butter, delighting hearts, and filling Vrindavan with joyous chaos. Yet what appeared as playful boyhood to a mother’s eyes were acts of cosmic purpose. Putana in false maternal guise, Bakasura as the menacing stork, Shakatasura upon the cart wheel, Trinavarta as the raging whirlwind, Kaliya in his venomous coils, Aghasura as the devouring serpent, Arishtasura as the fierce bull, Kuvalayapida the enraged elephant, Shishupala in prideful defiance, and the tyrant Kamsa himself, were all vanquished by the Lord’s divine will.
Yet the beloved Krishna of Vrindavan was also the eternal Vishnu, the divine preserver, resting upon the infinite serpent Adi Shesha, with Lakshmi beside him in serene grace.
Whether lifting Govardhana to shelter his devotees or filling the air with the eternal melody of his flute, the Lord’s gentle hands were always extended in protection, love, and grace.
At the heart of His leela, was a sacred love. With Rukmini and Satyabhama beside him in companionship and devotion, Krishna is a sacred chronicle of a life both tender and cosmic, an eternal melody of divine love.
This painting is a renderation of the Bhagawata Purana and Krishnaleela story in the old colour palette of Pattachitra on pure Tussar silk.
The iconography of Lakshmi Narayana in the Anantashayana pose is an essential element in traditional Pattachitra paintings dedicated to the life story of Lord Vishnu. Placed at the top of the composition, often marking the beginning of the narrative, it symbolises the artist’s humble prayer, seeking the Lord’s acceptance of the painting as an offering.

Caring for your art: This piece is fragile, so please handle it with care and avoid using any sharp objects near it. Please also keep it away from perfumes and harsh chemicals to preserve its finish and longevity.

For bespoke and commissioned creations, a 50% advance is required upon order confirmation. This helps us procure materials and support the artisans who bring each piece to life through their craftsmanship. The remaining balance is payable prior to dispatch.

Each painting is a carefully crafted work of art, created through hours of meticulous craftsmanship and artistic devotion. To honour its authenticity and provenance, a digital Certificate of Authenticity will be issued and shared with the purchaser by email within three working days after delivery.
